Rosewood Mobile Home & RV Park

Rosewood Mobile Home & RV Park is a 55-and-over RV park located in Bellflower, CA. We visited the park even before we purchased our RV. When COVID-19 started, we decided to move from our apartment into a 43-foot Grand Design Solitude 375RES that we had just purchased. We really enjoyed living in this park for the brief two-and-a-half years we lived there.

Every time we go back to southern California, this is the park we try to stay at.

Some photos came from a video I took using my drone, and some from Rosewood’s website.

Mayflower County Park

This is one of our favorite parks, even though it’s nothing special. It doesn’t have any amenities and is near the run-down little town of Blythe, CA, in the middle of the California desert.

What makes it one of our favorite parks is that we meet up with a few friends from far afield every year to enjoy the river, the views, and simply being together.

When you’re a full-time RVer, it’s challenging to establish and maintain long-term friendships. We were fortunate enough to meet some full-timers while living at Rosewood Mobile Home and RV Park in Bellflower, who told us about Mayflower. Since then, we have fallen in love with this park.

Below are some of the pictures we have taken of birds, dogs, friends, and, of course, the Colorado River, which runs right next to the park.

Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA

We’re finally on the road full-time!!

We left our home in Bellflower in January 2023 and the Palm Springs Joshua Tree KOA was our first stop.  Since this was the first time Allen had towed the 5th-wheel, we decided to stop after traveling for a few hours in case it was very stressful. When we departed Bellflower, it was drizzling with rain, but that didn’t seem to cause any problems.

Before the trip, Allen had been very nervous as it had been many years since he had towed anything, but the drive was easier than expected as the F-450 made the job a lot easier. The truck’s ability to tow the 5th-wheel without much effort amazed us.  It has a towing capacity of over 31,000 pounds. For reference, our RV weighs about half of that, so the truck has plenty of towing capacity, braking power, and torque.

Our Welcome to RVing

Before we started RVing, Allen wasn’t sure if he could live in such a small space so we rented a vintage RV down in Borrego Springs which is only a couple hours drive south of Long Beach. This was our first time staying in an RV and an RV park.

We rented Blue Bertha which had been fully restored. While it was still an older camper, it had all the modern necessities such as refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, bathroom, shower, flush toilet, and a double bed.

We enjoyed it so much that we went another couple of times before we purchased our own RV. We knew that Blue Bertha was a bit small for us to live in full-time, but we enjoyed the time we spent with her. We knew we wanted something a little larger and newer as we didn’t want to deal with restoring an RV or the cost of a fully restored RV.

While we love our 42-foot 2020 Grand Design Solitude 375RES, Blue Bertha will always have a special place in our hearts even though she isn’t ours.
